There was a guy in my high school who was so mean and tough I always swore he’d gladly wade through hellfire and brimstone just to fight a wood chipper. I think the developers and publishers at EA must have known that same guy because they used him as a model for the title character in Dante’s Inferno.
As the title might reveal, the game is named for and based on the first part of a narrative poem, written in the early 1300s by Dante Alighieri, called The Divine Comedy. In the narrative Dante realizes his life has followed the wrong path and he needs to find his way back to God in order to save his soul. He achieves this by taking a solo tour through Hell with a poet named Virgil as a guide. An adventure true enough, but it lacks the action needed for a good video game.
To remedy that, the change in the story line is that Dante is killed, confronts the Grim Reaper upon his death, and vows he will return to the land of the living and make amends for all his treachery. To secure this outcome, he defeats Death in a battle and steals his Magic scythe. Upon Death’s retreat, he instead reaps the soul of Dante’s wife, Beatrice.
Beatrice manages to arm Dante with her powerful cross before she is whisked away. And so with scythe and cross in hand, Dante must hack his way through Hades in order to bring her back and earn redemption.
The battle with the Grim Reaper is actually your first hands-on experience with the game. He barely puts up a fight, but it’s just enough to get acclimated to the controls and combat style. Soon after, Dante follows his love into the depths of the abyss with the help of Virgil. He’s a ghostly fellow who pops up here and there and describes the different layers of Hell and the types of sinners that they are designed to punish. Although he doesn’t offer any game advice, he helps to complete the experience.

Fans around the world waited for the magic trick that was going to arise from those blue curtains when Tiger Woods finally broke his silence Friday morning.

For the last three months, the public has pondered the peculiar car accident Thanksgiving weekend and the box of mistresses it led to. Overnight, he went from golf hero to the bad guy. And just as quickly, he vanished.

The media looked high and low for the lost Tiger. We all found out he’s taken the rehab route. But his location was never the concern. What they really wanted was an explanation.

America says they want an apology – a request for forgiveness or an admission of guilt.
On Friday, he issued one. Some say it was a crafted, publicist-approved statement. Others are angry he didn’t take questions. But after hearing his apology, I find him far more sincere than, say, John Mayer.

No smoke and mirrors. His words weren’t hollow. He acknowledged the media’s frustration with him and vice versa. He said he wrongly felt entitled, he was selfish and foolish. Unlike the contrived and arrogant golfer of the past, he was humbled and truthful.

Committed to therapy, he headed back after the statement and hopes to return to golf some day. Some say he should have done it differently. They have questions. Well, so do I.

But who are any of us to say how someone should apologize? My parents taught me to simply mean it when I say I’m sorry. I felt he did.

Is it really any of our business to know any more about his extramarital affairs and the status of his marriage? He’s on the road to recovery. It’s a deeply personal thing, so why shouldn’t he have been surrounded by family and friends? It was televised. How much more access was needed?

Should he have held a press conference as soon as it happened, told the public before anyone else could say more, like David Letterman did. Would that have made it all right?

Angela Griffin has insisted that she would not like to quit her Sky1 show in favour of bigger projects.The actress has been fronting daytime show Angela and Friends on the entertainment channel since November.Discussing the talk programme in an interview with The People, Griffin commented: “It takes a long time for people to get used to a new show. I am loving being on Sky though and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. “I certainly haven’t got my sights set on hosting big shows like The X Factor.
